Race Results
Lucas Oil Division 6 Event
Mission, B.C., Canada
May 28-30, 2010

You know it was a long weekend when your blog will have more written in it and way more down time photos taken than your race results page. Not much happened in terms of racing, just A LOT of rain. It rained on Thursday when we pulled into the track. It rained some of Friday during qualifying. It rained all day Saturday to cancel that day's action. It rained on Sunday to postpone the rest of final eliminations till Monday. And then it rained enough on Monday to cancel the race until the Seattle Lucas Oil race in August. That's a lot of rain.

Temperatures were very cool, barely 50 degrees, with the humidity in the 90% range for Friday's lone qualifying attempt. Contrary to some internet sites, we did not brake anything after the burnout nor were we shut off for any reason. Basically we have never raced in anything so cold with high humidity and the injector froze up before we could de-ice it starving the motor with the neccessary oxygen to survive. Embarrassing, maybe. Did we get over it, absolutely.

If you don't know by now all it did on Saturday was rain. You can read our BLOG to find out how we passed the time during this very long day.

We awoke on Sunday to no rain, but still cloudy skies, and knew time was of the essence to get this race completed. We were given one more qualifying attempt first thing in the morning before first round later in the afternoon. On that qualifying pass all that happened was serious tire shake that had Jeff looking for some Advil, Tylenol, Aleve, or all of the above. Jeff said he pedaled it once hoping to get a decent number on the board and he posted a 6.804 at 183.37 on that pass that placed us 6 of 6 for the 8 car field. We were guessing that we were going to go up against the number 3 qualifier but then was told that we would have a 6 car field and we get to race Brian Hough that had been throwing down low 5.60 passes all weekend. But if we could get pass him we would have an automatic bye into the final.

It was pretty much a dead heat of the line and Jeff was keeping toe to toe with fellow Oregonian Hough until about half track when he pulled away for the win, a 5.64 254 to our 5.883 and 232.49.  It was our best pass of the weekend but we were behind the eight ball from the start. Jeff got darn close to the centerline on that run and it may have scratched a few hundredths off our E.T. but it would've been tough to beat a 5.64. But all was not lost over the weekend. We got to race in Canada for the first time.

We also got to meet some of the Canadian drivers like Nathan Sitko and his team who were pitted next to us who, congratulations, ran their career best number here this weekend.

We definitely had our ups and downs and unsures and what if's this weekend but I think I can speak for most everyone on the team that we're glad we made the trip, but it sure feels good to be home this Memorial Weekend.
